Rebecca Maracle, Bear Clan of Tyendinaga, is a renowned Mohawk Artist and a Traditional Medicine Healer, member of the Haudenosaunee Peoples. KARAKWINE – “She brings the Light” is her Mohawk name given to her by her Raksotha (Grandfather) .
The exquisite materials of nature; pheasant, duck, quail and other water bird feathers, deerskin and traditional Mohawk teachings are incorporated into each piece of art. The process is almost a form of meditation, bringing forth the teachings of the past, into the present. Each piece of art is about balance & healing energy coming together in the form of art, a framed piece of work, or a traditional healing Mandela. Its a sacred time during each step of the process with much contemplation & focus.
She has won numerous awards for her works of art, and they can be found in private collections around the world. Rebecca meditates on every piece she creates, and the energy of each piece has the ability to attract to it, the person who needs awareness. If they are open and receptive to it, then it can help them on a deeper level. She also practices her Traditional medicines, teachings, and offers traditional healing practices including a wide range of modalities, from physical cures using herbal medicines, other remedies and methods…. to promoting psychological and spiritual wellbeing using ceremony, counselling and wisdom passed on from her Ancestors and Elders.
Come by for Rebecca’s demonstrations throughout the weekend.
