Margaret’s work is varied in theme and media – gentle personal mandala drawings (based on a circle; used for meditation by some), watercolour paintings, and acrylic paintings. Margaret is developing a unique set of works (acrylic) depicting the interiors of homes, and she also continues to produce landscape paintings, based on her travels and wanderings near home. All paintings are representational works. In her own words Margaret says, “I paint the impression of what I see, holding true to fast lines and strong value contrasts.”
Margaret is a member of the Rideau Lakes Artists Association (since 2011), and participates in shows and events each year with the association. Margaret will co-chair the 19th annual Rideau Lakes Studio and Garden Tour in 2017, held Canada Day weekend, participating for her fifth season. Margaret studied art at University of Guelph, graduating with a B.A. degree, specialization in Fine Art. Following several years teaching art privately and at a gallery, Margaret completed her education degree at Queen’s University – teachable subject: visual arts. Between 1998 and 2011 she taught in eastern Ontario, often “trading” other subjects to pick up classes in art with other classrooms.
